Dave Leduc

Dave Leduc began training in martial arts around 2009 after leaving home as a teenager, channeling his energy into disciplines like Sanda and Jeet Kune Do under coach Patrick Marcil. He started competing in amateur events and developed an interest in Lethwei after being introduced to it through footage.

He turned professional in 2013, initially fighting in Thailand due to limited opportunities elsewhere, and trained at Tiger Muay Thai while pursuing a Lethwei career.

Leduc first gained international attention in 2014 after winning a controversial fight inside a Thai prison (“Prison Fight”), which helped raise his profile.

His breakthrough came in 2016 when he traveled to Myanmar and defeated reigning champion Tun Tun Min, becoming the first non-Burmese fighter to win the Lethwei Golden Belt. This victory established him as a major figure in the sport.

Following this, he built a reputation as one of Lethwei’s top competitors, eventually becoming a six-time world champion and remaining undefeated under traditional Lethwei rules (which require a knockout to win).

Beyond competition, Leduc is widely described as a key figure in expanding Lethwei internationally, helping promote the sport outside Myanmar and contributing to its global visibility.

In 2023, he announced his retirement and had a final fight under Kun Khmer rules against Prom Samnang, which ended in a draw.
