The Myanmar Lethwei Federation successfully held its five-day Lethwei Trainer Course from June 8 to June 12 at Thein Phyu Stadium.
The course was conducted to develop trainers capable of teaching the fundamental techniques and traditional practices of Lethwei. The curriculum was designed for instructors teaching the general public and focused on the correct execution of foundational skills rather than the tactical preparation of professional fighters.
Throughout the five-day program, participants received instruction in both the cultural and technical aspects of traditional Lethwei. Lessons covered customs such as Kadaw Pwe, Lethwei Yay, and Lekkha Moun, as well as the history of Lethwei competition, weight classifications, and rules.
Practical training included the fundamentals of striking with punches, elbows, knees, kicks, and headbutts, along with footwork, defensive techniques, clinch work, and grappling. Participants also studied hand and foot wrapping methods, basic medical knowledge for trainers, and the responsibilities of cornermen and fight assistants.
The following photos and videos document some of the activities, demonstrations, and training sessions that took place throughout the course, preserving a record of this milestone in the continued development and transmission of traditional Lethwei knowledge.
